As my journey into natural products has progressed, it has become not only about finding the best natural alternatives to mainstream products but also about finding brands that I believe in, that I can trust, and that I can stand behind. Ahnesti Haircare has become one of those brands.

The creator of Ahnesti, Lorri Weisen is an entrepreneur that I can admire.  She saw an industry need of salon-worthy haircare made with natural and organic ingredients.  See a need, fill a need.  It’s not just about putting clean food in our bodies, but also about putting clean ingredients on our body as well.  Her products aren’t only natural and organic, but they perform better than any mainstream products that I haveused before.

How is the Ahnesti different from other hair care products?

  • The products have not tainted my hair color at all, if anything the color is more vibrant
  • Uses European standards – highest cosmetic ingredient standard in the WORLD
  • Core values: health, TRANSPARENCY, responsibility

“If your hair is clean enough to squeak, it has been stripped of its natural protective oils.”

LORRI WEISEN

So how does Ahnesti perform so well with natural ingredients?

I wondered the same thing as I started to use the shampoo for the first time and it started to lather…and lather good.  I couldn’t help but think…WHAT IS HAPPENING!?  No other natural shampoo has been able to lather, there must be something suspect going on here.

Actually, their shampoo is formulated with coco-glucoside and decyl-glucoside which naturally cleanse your hair and develop a luxurious lather at the same time!  I even had to use less of the shampoo than I normally do with natural shampoo because the lather was so good.

WIN!

To form a better consensus, I had a couple of my friends try out the shampoo.  Want to know their main complaint?  It wasn’t about the performance or the great body that it gave their hair afterward.  It was the lack of squeak.  They were referring to the “squeaky clean” result that most shampoos gave them which let them know that the product had been fully rinsed out.  So why no squeak with Ahnesti?  Why can you continue to run your fingers through your wet hair even after you have rinsed your hair?

As Lorri puts it, “If your hair is clean enough to squeak, it has been stripped of its natural protective oils.”

So forget the squeak people, the squeak is not your friend.

Okay, Britt so the squeak is out, what else should I know?

You should know that just like switching from toxic deodorants to clean, there is also a detox process that comes along with switching to clean haircare.  Depending on which toxins are in your current beauty routine, Ahnesti has some great tips for getting all those nasties out of you gorgeous hair:

Simply wash them out with Ahnesti products if you’ve been using products with any: Dimethicone copolyol, Hydrolyzed wheat protein (hydroxypropyl polysiloxane), Lauryl methicone copolyol, or Silicones with PEG listed before it.

Co-wash the buildup out with Ahnesti if you’ve been using products with any: Amodimethicone, Behenoxy dimethicone, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cyclomethicone, Cyclotetrasiloxane, or Stearoxy dimethicone.

You will need a sulfate-based shampoo if you’ve been using products with any: Cetearyl methicone, Cetyl dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Stearyl dimethicone, or Trimethylsilylamodimethicone.

Now, onto the products!

Puriti Uplifting Shampoo & Puriti Uplifting Conditioner:

Whenever I wanted to give my straight hair some extra bounce I added these bad boys into my routine.  Bad in such a good way, you know.  I loved this combo because it truly gave me insane volume that I have never experienced before.  I felt myself constantly playing with my hair because I just could not get over how thick and bouncy it felt.  LOVE.

Integriti Replenishing Shampoo & Integriti Replenishing Conditioner:

I have been using this combo the most!  Due to the cold season, my hair has needed some extra loving, some great conditioning to stay nourished.  One day I actually forget to bring this combo into the shower with me (and it was toooooo freakin cold outside to get out of the shower once I was in) so I used my husband’s old shampoo and boy did I regret.  Frizz…frizz…static…static.  UGH.  I could not wait until I could get Ahnesti back into my hair.

The difference was day and night.  Right after I used this amazing combo the frizz and the static were gone and my hair was back to happy.

 Both combos were amazing.

The shampoos gave me an amazing, rich lather that I loved.  Something interesting that I touched on before was the lack of squeak.  Usually, with the squeak you can’t run your fingers through your wet hair anymore and tends to make me feel uncomfortable, to be honest.  But not with these shampoo and conditioner combos.  I loved how I could continue to run my fingers through my hair, I honestly felt like I should be in some sexy shampoo commercial with how fabulous I felt.

Furthermore, I read some other reviews about the conditioner saying it was too thick.  I disagree.  I loved the thickness, it is what my frizzy hair needed and I wouldn’t change a thing!

So, any cons?

It is not necessarily a con, however, the price of an 8oz bottle of shampoo or conditioner is $26.  Now, this may seem pricey compared to your $6 or $14 shampoo.  But, I use substantially less of Ahnesti shampoos and conditioners than I normally which means that it lasts LONGER.  Not only that but you can’t beat the peace of mind that comes with their natural ingredients and the ease of use as well.

What are your favorite natural haircare products to use? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear!
